We operate three aeroplanes, two traditional nose wheel types and a vintage “tail-dragger”. The two nose wheel planes are both French, a Wassmer WA52 Europa and a Robin DR400. The tail dragger is a 1940’s Piper Vagabond.
The Wassmer is unusual in as much it is one of only three on the UK register. It’s an attractive looking, low wing 4 seater of composite construction and powered by a 160 HP Lycoming engine fitted with a variable pitch propeller. It cruises at 120 knts and has a duration of 4 hours or so - an ideal touring machine.
As well as a twin comms radio it has two VOR receivers with RNAV and a mode ‘S’ transponder. The cabin had a refit in 2013 and now has a new all leather interior
New members wishing to fly this aeroplane will need differences training to cover the use of the VP prop before getting checked out.
The Robin DR400 is also a 4 seater, a great looking aeroplane, fabric on a wood frame construction and powered by a 160 HP Lycoming engine with a fixed pitch propeller. It cruises at 110 knt. With a duration of 4 hours or so,
As well as a comms radio it has a VOR receivers, a Garmin GPS and a mode ‘C’ transponder. It has a comfortable cabin with great visibility and is a real treat to fly
Members flying this aeroplane will be covered under the SEP rating and will just need a flight with our check pilot.
The Piper Vagabond is a vintage 2 seat tail dragger from the 1940’s era
This is real “grass roots” flying. It has a 65hp engine, a hand-swing starting procedure and although it has a comms radio that’s about it.
New members wishing to fly this aircraft will need differences training to cover tail wheel aeroplanes before getting checked out.
